Reaction Response Papers: Important Aspects of Writing

Reaction response paper is the type of academic writing aimed at the expression of own thoughts and opinions on the assigned text, report or any other type of work. This type of paper is rather complicated and demanding as it requires the author’s analysis and own reasonable aptitude regarding certain work. Here you need to analyze, criticize and justify and make all these things using a reasonable approach.

Effective strategy of writing the Reaction Response Paper

  1. Study the assignment
To make a great paper you need to have a complete understanding of what you need to write and meet the stated requirements. Study your assignment and all other specifications and if something is not clear it is better to consult your teacher. If there is no definite assignment and you need to improvise on your own, try to work out some specifications on your own. Thus, to make your work with the text under analysis more effective, try to answer the questions, as follows:
    • What is your attitude to the text? Do you like it?
    • What is the author’s objective?
    • Do you agree or disagree with the author?
    • Do you have some experience in your life that is related to the statements made in the text?
    • Did the text impress you in some way?
  2. Read the text
You can hardly write any good response paper without a careful reading of the original text. It should be not a simple and quick reading. It is better to comprehend the text several times in order to understand all the details and aspects. The most effective approach is to make some notes that will be useful for your further work over the paper.
  3. Work over the response paper
It is better not to put off writing the paper and do it immediately after reading the text. In such a way you remember more details and have a lot of impressions. At first, outline a brief plan of your paper, indicating its structural parts and their main content. Using this outline makes your work quicker and more effective. Make drafts, do not be afraid to experiment with the style, but do not postpone and strike the iron while it is hot.
  4. Use examples and quotations
While making a response paper it is important to provide an impression that you know the text from A to Z and convey the tone and message of the author. The best way to achieve this is to use examples and quotations. Select strong fragments or wording that will help to prove your aptitude and assumptions. Anyway, avoid overloading your paper with examples, so that your paper does not show your own opinion.
  5. Take care of the details and paper quality
Details always matter especially when it concerns a paper. There are a lot of aspects that should be treated carefully besides the content. You need to stick to the structural organization outlined in the planning phase so that the paper is clear and comprehensible for the readers. Perform multiple proofreading and editing as these actions help you to improve your paper step by step and make it more attractive and interesting for the readers.
